Sydney is situated on Cape Breton Island’s east coast. The city of 29,000 has a history of steel production during both World Wars.
Currently it’s main industries are tourism and customer support call centers.

We made our way to Sydney NS through the most ridiculous scenery. Cheryl was camera happy.

Our first causeway.

From Cheryl’s journal: “Didn’t have a good night’s sleep, excited that today we would try to get onto the boat to NFLD. We thought to just drive there and see which boat we would/could catch. Good thing we didn’t. Calling them beforehand we found out it would take three days before we could catch the Port Aux Basques ferry. Luckily they have room on the Argentia route today.”
